finally some relief...

so (may 4th) i had arthroscopic surgery done on my right knee that has been giving me problems since i was injured while playing travel soccer 10 years ago!! my mom went with me at 7am to memorial hospital...and everything went really well!

when i got there i had to put on a "buffount" cap, change into all of these mismatched gowns and robes and put these weird bootie things on my feet that made me look like a smirf...haha...cheryl, the nurse that was taking care of me was really nice and was an excellent catheter placer...it didn't hurt a bit...so then i met with dr. k, the anesthesist who was nice too...then i met richard, the good looking nurse anesthesist, he was nice too...then the PA, allison and dr. wind came to see me and he signed my leg...i love that guy...he is awesome..not to mention hot...lol

after all of that another nurse took me into the operating room...as they were getting me up onto this really kewl and comfortable operating table a few of the nurses were asking me about different dog breeds and another had a question about her pit bull that sounds like it has a UTI since they knew that i am a Vet Tech...lol

then rich, the nurse anesthesist injected me with some Reglan to help with nausea, Versed to calm me down some more and then some oxygen and then started injecting Propofol for induction...i don't remember anything after that of course! they also had to intubate me since i have reflux...and i'm glad that they did...i was really worried about that! the next thing i remember was waking up with one of the nurses monitoring me in the recovery room. then after a while they helped me walk down the hallway to the room that i started out in so that i could wake up further. they had to give me more Reglan too b/c i felt like i was going to hurl after the walk...lol. after about another 1/2 hour i got changed and was wheeled down to the car by a hospital volunteer...

we were home by like 12:30pm...and i spent the rest of the day on the couch with my leg elevated & with the aircast on my leg...which is a cuff thing that wraps around my leg & knee and is filled with cold water to keep pressure and ice on my knee. i was able to eat a bit and fall asleep/ watch TV/ cuddle w/ Scarlett which made for kind of a boring, but relaxing day! I also got a joint voicemail from H & Jayd from work which was kewl...lol...it made me smile. i also don't go back to work till May 15th which is great!...i'll have lots of time to relax and recover!

so needless to say, my knee really doesn't hurt that much...i took a few of the Loritabs for pain but not as many as they directed b/c it feels fine...really the only bad part about this so far is the fact that i have limited mobility and can't play with Scarlett and let her outside and that i can't take a shower till saturday....eeww...i feel scummy already!!...but overall everything is fine!...peace out for now!

hehe my hot doctor signed my leg! :)

The Sabres Rock!!!!

so yeah...since my dad bought a 5 pack of tickets for the regular season games for the Sabres he had automatic tickets for the round 1 games of the stanley cup playoffs against the philadelphia flyers...and they were awesome!!!

the sabres had the home game advantage for round 1 so we went to games 1, 2 & 3...they won those, then they lost games 4 &5 they had at philadelphia...so they played game 6 in buffalo...and won with a shut-out...so there was no game 7, and that was the end of round 1, and philadelphia was eliminated....!!!

now round 2 starts against the ottowa senators...the sabres do not have the home advantage this round though so they are playing in ottowa...game 1 is tomorrow night and game 2 is on monday...and games 3 & 4 are in buffalo on wednesday & thursday....and i can't remember the rest...but they will be awesome i'm sure! i just hope that i can go to all of the games b/c of my knee!!

so enjoy the pictures that i posted below...

Movin' Out!!

no no no...don't get too excited for me...i'm not moving out of my parents house just yet...but on April 23rd my dad and i went to see the musical, Movin' Out, that contains music from Billy Joel, at sheas! it was a WONDERFUL show!!! we both really enjoyed it. i bought us KILLER seats too...we were in orchestra row h...really close to the stage...we were making eye contact with the performers!! it was AWESOME!!

after the show we also got to meet Wade Preston who played the piano and sang all of the songs during the show. he did a GREAT job and really sounds like Billy Joel...and even looks like him from a distance away. he took a picture with me and signed my program and the Movin' Out cd that i bought.

all in all it was a great day and we really enjoyed the show...not a big surprise for someone who is as obsessed with Billy Joel's music as i am!! enjoy the pictures from that day below...

life is a series of hellos and goodbyes...

sorry it has taken me so long to post...but i have been so busy lately...mostly with the critter that i am posting about now!

so on april 18th my parents and i went out to medina to check out some scottish terrier puppies...the breeder who has been doing this for 20 years was very nice and the puppies and her adult dogs were all very nice and cute! to make a long story short there were 4 dogs that survived and 2 that died in the litter. the mom, lucy, was 2 years old (this was her 1st litter), very nice and kissed my hand and the dad, duncan, was off-site in youngstown and is owned by another breeder. both of the parents are like 20-22lbs also which are nice weights. anyway, Peggy (the breeder) let the puppies loose in the room and i started checking them all out. i kind of went there with the intention of buying a female just because of the way that she described everyone over the phone.

so i met the 2 brindle males and they were cute, but very very wild and did not settle down at all. then i met the wheaten female (Peggy is keeping her) who was also very wild! then i met the all black female (who is actually is turning brindle now)...it was love at first sight...she was wild and crazy, but then finally settled down in my lap...so i decided to get her. I decided to call her Scarlett. She was only $700 which was a good deal for a quality puppy...she already had her first vet check w/ a de-worming, 1st vaccine and dewclaw removal. so that is how Scarlett and i found each other!

so she is now 12 weeks old (her birthday is Feb 2, 2006) and jeanne checked her out and we gave her the rabies, kennel cough and 2nd distemper (DHPP) vaccines this week...we distracted her with treats so she didn't even cry...thank god...Travis used to HATE getting injections!!! so now she is all set to start her puppy class with me on May 25th @ All Dawgs...i am excited about that too!

so basically Scarlett is doing well...eating, drinking, going to the bathroom normally and just being a puppy...playing, biting and acting silly...so that is all for now...below you can see some cute pictures...enjoy...there will be many more in the near future too...so get ready!

me hanging out with the whole litter @ the breeder's house...wheaten female (Phoebe), brindle male (Duncan), brindle female (Scarlett) & brindle male (Lucas).
