irish memories

So yeah i am dogsitting this weekend. a co-worker of my dad who lives in our neighborhood asked if i could watch her dogs this weekend while her and he family are out of town. of course i said yes! i went over thursday night and met the dogs and they are great. they have 5 irish setters! i am only watching 4 of them because 1 of them is being watched by someone else. the dogs i am watching are lisa, jacquie, chase and sydney. lisa and jacquie are old, they are quite cute. sydney and chase are younger and run around non-stop! chase jumps up and gives me a hug and kiss every time i walk in the house!...

so yeah i went over today at 5pm to feed them and give the 2 old girls their meds. then my brother and his friend came with me at 9:30pm to let them out to run around, etc. chase suddenly got really scared when my brother walked in the house though, so him and kristen waited outside while i took care of everyone. they have a nice dog run attached to the house and a fully fenced in yard so taking care of them is really easy. so anyway i have to go back tomorrow at 7am, 1pm and 5pm to do more of the same. it's fun though and i love the dogs. i hope they ask me to watch them all again in the future.

in between dogsitting sessions tonight my brother, his friend kristen and i watched eternal sunshine of the spotless mind with jim cary, kirsten dunst and kate winslet. it's a really kewl movie about relationships and memories and how they leave your brain. it kind of reminded me of being john malkovitch. it was really really good and i would say that people should definately watch it, but it kind of depressed me at the same time. it got me thinking about the mind and how it works and how time seems to erase things, especially things like unplesant memories about relationships and breakups. well, see the movie and let me know what you think!

my ER drama

so yeah on saturday (10/2) i went to work and came home right afterwards. my parents and i went to a few stores to compairison shop for a flat screen TV and a DVD recorder for my room as a belated birthday gift. so yeah we went to REX and almost bought both there but after the sales guy told us that he could give us all of these great deals he went in the stockroom, came out and said he only had the floor models to sell us. we didn't want that so we left.

we then decided to go to casa nova to get some pizza and re-group. yeah, i know, i'm on weight watchers, but i get to splurge ever once and a while... so i had a big salad and 2 slices of mushroom & cheese pizza. it was awesome. then we got in the car and went to rosa's to look at their electronics. we didn't really see anothing there. then this pain started in my left back near my shoulder blade. i couldn't get rid of it but we kept shopping.

next was target. i ended up getting a sharp brand 20 in. flat screen TV. it's kewl. then, since wal*mart had an emerson DVD recorder on sale, we headed over there to buy it. as we were walking out of wal*mart my back pain started migrating down my left arm, up the left side of my neck and in the front of my chest around my left boob. i was starting to get really uncomfortable. we then drove home. we unpacked everything from the car and i started taking the stuff out of their boxes. then the pain got worse. it felt like someone was stabbing me in the back with a very long and sharp knife. then i started having some sort of panic attack, and started getting hysterical...my mom was like "that's it we are going to the ER." so we did.

we went to st. mary's er. by the time i got there i was more hysterical and couldn't even remember that i was 24, not 23. eeekkk. they got me in a wheelchair right away, and all checked in, and then in a gurney, hooked up to blood pressure and heart rate monitors and pulse oximetry. then a nurse came in and drew some blood and put in an IV catheter. then an aide came in and ran an EKG. then 2 more nurses came over and took a portible chest x-ray. then a doctor came over and talked to me. by that time my pain had subsided. he said that my EKG was normal and that the only thing he was worried about was a pulmonary embolism, which is a life threatning blood clot. they ran my bloodwork and everything came back normal, including a D-Dimer test which checks for enzymes in the blood associated w/ clotting, which ruled out a pulmonary embolism.

after all of this they said it was most likely my gall bladder b/c of the fact that i ate greasy pizza which i haven't eaten in months. so yeah. i'm still not totally at ease, but my pain is gone. and the doctor gave me a script for vicodin which i'm not going to fill since my pain is gone. he also wanted to give me IV dilated which i declined. they wanted to dope me up! haha. anyway i'm fine i guess. and that was my ER drama.
