boys make me want to puke

Ani DiFranco is brilliant...this is one of her GREAT quotes that speaks to all of the recent guys in my life...:

"either you don't have the balls, or you don't feel the same...."

GO ANI...I couldn't have said it better myself!!!

new years eve 2005/new years day 2006

so yeah new years eve started out just like any other day that I don't have to work...I sat around my house, watched tv and read a book. I finished reading "All Creatures Great & Small" by James Herriot, which I got from my boss b/c he said it was a must read for a future vet...and he was right! It was a great book. I am looking forward to reading the rest of his books which I got for Christmas: "All Things Bright & Beautiful," "All Things Wise & Wonderful," "The Lord God Made Them All" and "Every Living Thing." I also have yet to buy "James Herroit's Dog Stories," which I did not get for Christmas...anyway...

I picked up Ed at 9:45pm and we met Dave at Fridays on NF Blvd for some dinner...it was fun but the place was dead! It was really weird...usually that place is hoppin' on Saturday nights, especially New Years Eve!...oh well...

Then we decided to head down to good 'ole Allentown and we ended up at Frizzy's...which was also fun. The place was pretty busy, but it was weird, we were able to actually find a parking spot on Allen St! Anyway we walked in just as the ball was dropping on tv...it was funny watching all of the dunk people screaming and getting all excited b/c the three of us weren't drunk at all. So the ball dropped, big deal. I personally think New Years Eve is a very depressing holiday...so what did I do? Drink!! That was kind of a mistake since I was kind of depressed already...oh well. All in all I had a good time going out w/ Ed & Dave, I was glad to see them again, since I never get to hang out w/ them! Ed said that he is going back to Minnesota on Jan 10th, so maybe we will get together again before he leaves.

So I finally got home from the evening festivities by the time I drove home, etc...around 4am. I wasn't tired when I got home though so I watched some Cosby Show episodes on Nick at Nite (dorky I know but I love that damn show!!) and checked my e mail...& as I was doing that, another friend from Canisius, Andre, signed on and he and I started talking about stuff. We had a nice convo about relationships and expectations and how crappy guys can be...haha...it was kewl. I don't know what it is lately, I really am wishing that I was back at Canisius...maybe I just miss school...if that is the case, then I will be in luck if I get into Vet school!...if it's the people that I miss (and I'm pretty sure that's what it is) then I'll just have to try to make an effort to see them more often! Andre said that he is most likely moving back to Buffalo and that would be kewl so we'll see what happens...

Anyway, today, New Years Day I woke up at 2pm and I listened to a voice mail from Brian...we said that he has been having some problems with his ex girlfriend and that he hates all women (he said "he hates all of us"), but that it's nothing personal against me and that he would call me when he is ready to talk because he can't talk about it right now with anyone including me. So I promptly erased his number from my cell phone. Being put on hold is not something that I take very well as you can see. This is getting to be a pattern lately, but it's a new year so maybe the pattern will end...who knows...anyway...

I watched "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" on DVD today with my mom...it was such a great movie...funny, sappy, sad and empowering all at the same time! And I absolutely loved Madea!!! You all have to go and rent it!

Anyway I'll end this post with one of the many great lines from the movie:

"The good thing about being this low is that there is nowhere to go but up."- Helen

I have adopted this as kind of a mantra for 2006...hopefully things will start to look up real soon...I truly believe that they will because no one ever knows what is coming around the bend...maybe I'll meet an Orlando...or I'll get into Vet school, or both, or neither and something better will happen...who knows...I kind of like the uncertainty of it all...
