Right front leg amputation...

so today was an interesting day at work...i was in surgery and this dog named Mia needed her right front leg amputated...its kind of a long story, but in short, she got hit by a car and had some bad breaks and nerve damage and since the leg was wrapped and getting infected, smelly and oozy, amputation was the only treatment option, other than euthanasia, so the owners opted to have it done.

Mike was the surgeon and after he got into the surgery a bit he needed me to scrub in and hold the scapula up as he cut it free from the body. In dogs and cats the scapula is only held onto the body by muscles and the tendons and ligaments...and of course there are many blood vessels in there that like to bleed, so the whole point of the surgery was to cut the connections to the scapula in order to free the leg from the body...so here are the pictures...
