Florida Vacation...

So I haven't posted in a while and I hope you all don't think that I forgot about my blog and everything....b/c I didn't...I just haven't been in the mood to write about stuff, I've been kinda down...

Anyway, my trip to Florida was great...I was there Feb 21st to Mar 2nd and I didn't want to leave. The weather was really nice there, high 70's to mid 80's with no humidity...I could seriously live in Florida forever even when it getsn humid in late spring and summer. I know living somewhere year round is different than when you go there on a vacation but seriously, Florida is great! Well, while I was down there I went to the pool at the condo complex just about every morning and sat around and got lots of sun. The pictures of the palm trees and salamanders below are all from my times at the pool. I also got to visit with my grandparents of course and we ate at lots of great restaurants like Augie's, Sal's, Poppy's (a kosher Jewish place that has the BEST breakfast stuff!!), Legal Seafood (my favorite place to go when I visit my grandparents in Florida) & Smokey Bones (which we now have here in Buffalo in 2 locations...on Maple Rd & on Walden Ave...woohoo!!)

We also went to the Hard Rock Seminole Casino which was fun...we tried to win me a 2006 Ford Mustang GT, but we weren't successful!! :( :( oh well...they did have a kewl huge guitar fountain outside which I enjoyed.

While I was there my grandpa introduced me to a new wine. I was saying how my 2 favorites are Chardonnay and Riesling and he was like, "I just bought a Chardonnay Reisling, try some." So I tried some and it was awesome...needless to say I bought 3 bottles of it and brought them home...I have only polished off one of them so far!
We also rented some good movies..."October Sky" which was about a high school student in the 1950's who lived in a mining town and was interested in rockets and eventually became a scientist at NASA..."Hotel Rhuanda" which as about the genocide in Africa...really sad...and "North Country" which was about a woman who after having 2 kids and leaving her abusive husband comes back to live in her Northern Minnesota hometown and lands a job at the local mine where she faced sexual harassment and abuse...really good...it made me cry at several points. I would recommend these movies to everyone though. We also went to the theatre a few times and saw "Capote" which was about Truman Capote and how he became almost obsessed with the murder of a farm family in Kansas in the 1950's and his book "In Cold Blood" that he wrote about it and "Eight Below" a Disney movie about a group of scientists based in Antartica and their dogs and some terrible stuff that happened to them...but it did have a kind of happy ending...

So the trip to Florida was great...I needed to get away for a while and it did the trick...too bad I had to come back :(...I am glad that I did come back though b/c the day after I came back I went and saw a new knee doctor and he actually told me what is wrong with my knee...I have Plica Syndrome!! I feels good to FINALLY know what is wrong after 10 YEARS!!! Here are some links that explain what that is if you are interested:

So the doctor told me to do 4 weeks of physical therapy and then we would talk about things after that, but I most likely have to have surgery to remove the plica. Physical therapy is helping so far though, so that's good. I will give an update after I see the doctor again as to what is going to happen....so that's all on my trip to Florida...
